Home from tour… What next?

So we’re all still decompressing from tour. The merch store is back up but the only thing for sell is the LP, we sold out of tapes on the road. We’ll be adding some shirts from tour in the next few days. Our next performance is this year’s Rainfest in Seattle, WA on May 26th.

We’re also working on writing some new material for upcoming releases. More info will be posted on that in the near future.

Outlook Tour Day 33: The Northeast

Been awhile since the last update, but we’ve been really busy driving around doing stuff. It’s our first time on the east coast so there’s lots to see. We’re hanging out in New York City today, it’s a day off for us but unfortunately it’s raining here. Tomorrow we head west and back towards home. Here’s a few pictures from the last few days:

Outlook Tour Day 20 something: We’re now on the East Coast

We had a lot of fun coming across the south. We had never played anywhere east of the three west coast states and were a little afraid of how it would go, but it was a great time. After Austin we stayed in New Orleans. There was a really cool DIY skate park there and we roamed around the French Quarter.

After Louisiana we played a show in Pensacola with some other bands from the west coast who were also on tour. They were Sister Fucker and Generation as well as a two piece drum and bass band. Generation didn’t play but the other bands were awesome. From Pensacola we had to drive seven hours to get to the east coast of Florida. We didn’t have a show that night and didn’t know where to stay. Luckily something came through though but we wouldn’t be able to crash until the person was done with their DJ set. So we wandered the streets of downtown Jacksonville. It was pretty much a ghost town. However we did find an open air mall like area where the band Candlebox was playing at some venue there. Our good friend Bob’s uncle plays in Candlebox so we used our relation to shmooze past security and get a picture with him.

We also went to a Hooters and asked if we could have some free fries. They denied us but at least took our photo.

The next day we drove down to Daytona Beach and just hung out at the beach all day. The show that night was really cool though. Lots of people came out on a Tuesday night and were really into us. The night we stayed at a person’s house who used to roadie for some big metal bands. He told us some crazy stories, like Marilyn Manson always wanting a litter box in his dressing room every night and how it was always be peed in when someone came to clean it up.

Today we played in Greensboro, NC. It was another awesome show except for some our gear messing up. Guitar, bass, and the drums all have things going wrong with them. Tomorrow we have another day off but the day after that we kick off our north east leg of the tour by playing in D.C. with hardcore legends, Scream. Come out and see us if you can!

Outlook Tour Day 22: Austin was Amazing!

We ended up playing three different shows in Austin because the rest of Texas our shows fell apart. Pretty much most of this leg of the tour has fallen apart. We were supposed to play New Orleans last night but that ended up being cancelled, there was a good reason for it so we’re not mad or anything. It’s just going to be a little rough until D.C. because we weren’t able to book a really solid lineup of shows here in the south. Good news is it looks like we’ll have a show tonight in Pensacola, FL and we hopped on a show in Greensboro, NC on the 12th.

But anyway, back to Austin. It was a really awesome time. We got into town not knowing what to expect and went straight to the venue. No one was there yet. Albert of the Creamers showed up a little bit later, some of us knew him from when they played up in Olympia with Crude Thought. He told us shows usually start later around there and that it should be a cool show. His other band, Recide, was playing that night too. The show was sick. Albert introduced us to a bunch of locals who a few of ended coming out to all three of our shows. One of them was Harris who let us crash at his apartment.

The next day Harris showed us all around Austin. It was a super cool thing to do and we really appreciate it. We got food, went skating, and then swimming. Austin’s got it all. We also hung out with our friend Baxter who we know from the north west but is currently bike cabbing down in Austin. The show that night was really cool but kind of weird for us. Most of this tour we’ve been playing in houses or garages or DIY spaces. This show was in a legit venue with a huge sound system. The show also didn’t start until 10:30 PM. Usually the shows we play are over by 10:30 PM. But it was a great set and people went wild for us. Creamer also played and they were really good. After the show our new found friends took us out for some samosas and then showed us a cool hang out on a roof. You could see all of Austin from up there.

The third show we played was at the same venue as the first, but what was cool about all the shows we played is that it was to mostly a different crowd each night. We had a super fun time in Austin and can’t wait to play there again. Thanks to everyone who hung out with us and especially Harris for letting us crash at his place three nights in a row.

Outlook Tour Day 17: We’re in Austin, TX

Haven’t updated this because we’ve just been blazin’ the whole country. Los Angeles was a blast. Did some skating, some skankin, and some surfin. We then had to rush through Arizona in order to make the long drives out to Texas. We’ll let the pictures and videos explain the fun:

Outlook Tour Day 5, 6, & 7: San Jose, Sacramento, Fresno

SAN JOSE

Lots of updates. It’s been a few days because we’ve just been super busy and haven’t had access to any internet. In San Jose we had a great show. All the bands were really sick. Rich, who lives at the house we played at, played drums in the first band, No Mistake. It was their first show and they ripped it up. Replica played next and they were even better than when I saw them previously a few weeks back. Our set was killer also, it really made up for the previous technical difficulties at the prior shows. Godstomper ended the show with a mix of crazy fast music and a capella R&B. After the show we ate a feast of tacos made by Brandon and some cashew ice cream made by Rich. This was the first time we played San Jose and it will definitely not be the last. Thanks to everyone at the House of the Dead Rat for providing us with an awesome place to play and crash. Also thanks to #23 for the sweet dunks.

SACRAMENTO

We rolled into Sacramento in the afternoon. We were all a little tired and bored from the drive so we asked directions to the nearest skate park. Unfortunately those directions were wrong. After walking around for a few hours we returned to the van and sat around for a few hours before the show. Matt made a bow and arrow out of sticks from a nearby field. The neighborhood kids were very impressed. It was only a two band show and Rad from Sacramento opened it. As their name explains, they were Rad. We had another great set, it’s all starting to come together after a few months of not practicing or playing.

FRESNO

Early on Tuesday we bailed out of Sacramento to rush down to Fresno on the word we could get hooked up with pizza and possibly free movies. We were also on a mission to find some empty swimming pools to skateboard in. To many, Fresno seems like some kind of dusty backwater town, but we have always had a great time there. It was no different this time. This was actually probably the best time we’ve had in Fresno. We arrived in the afternoon and went straight to Spinners, a local record shop. On our first tour we met the owner, Don, and he was a blast so we thought we would drop in again to say hi. He wasn’t there. But the person working did buy some of our records to sell in the store. Score. Our good friend Phil notified us shortly after that we could come by and snag some pizza at his work. We piled in the van and headed over.

While munching on pizza, Phil informed us on some local skate parks and possible contacts who could lead us to empty pools. After pizza we headed to the first skate park but there was a stupid rule that you had to wear helmets to skate there, so we left. We then went to a local skate shop to ask about pools. The employees were coy at first but after some conversing and the realization of some mutual friends a local opened up and provided us with a contact who supposedly knows all the skate-able pools in Fresno.

On the way to the show we called the contact and they agreed to meet us the next morning and take us to some pools. Just before we arrived at the show we hit up this local raw food restaurant and they gave us four plates of free food. Sometimes you just have to ask.

The show was amazing, as all our Fresno shows have been. Phil’s band, Gorrilla Stomp, played and were really cool. Chris, the promoter, and some others involved with the Bel-tower venue cooked us a ton of food and gave us a case of Cactus Cooler(a delicacy to us north westerners). After the show we stayed at a haunted house. Early in the morning a lamp turned on by itself, we all thought instantly that it was a ghost. It was just on a timer.

We split quick to skate some pools. Check out the pictures and videos. Thanks to everyone in Fresno. Everyone involved with both Bel-Tower and CYC are some of the best people in the world and we love coming to Fresno to hang out with you all. Also thanks so much to Peacock and Ray for having us.

OUTLOOK Tour Day 4: Rainy Day in Oakland

Wouldn’t want to clean up that mess. Last night we played at Casa Sandanista. People brought in the mud as it was a messy and rainy day in Oakland. Our set was short because of some difficulties with guitar stuff but the turnout was great and people said they enjoyed our set. It was nice to see some familiar faces since we played with two other bands from the great northwest, Dogjaw and Agatha.

We spent the day in a coffee shop since it was a mess out. We did get to see some free jazz which was very thrilling. We also hit up Whole Foods and were treated with some delicious free cookies from some fellow punk rockers who were into the boombox we brought in with us.

Tonight we head out to San Jose to play at The House of the Dead Rat.

Special thanks to Chocolate, Ben, Steven, Ricky, and everyone else at the Oakland house we stayed at. Also to the people who came out to both of our Oakland shows and rocked out with us.

OUTLOOK TOUR DAY 2 & 3: Waiting, Driving, Oakland

We thought we would leave Olympia sooner but it ended up taking all day and night to get the van fixed. Our mechanic extraordinaire told us he still had stuff to finish but we told him there was no more time, we had to leave now if we didn’t want to miss anymore shows(sorry Redding!). We went to pick up the van at the mechanic’s house and it was super sketchy vibes. There was no sign of the mechanic and he wasn’t answering our calls. The van was just chilling out front so we checked it out and it looked liked he hadn’t done anything to it. Then we tried to open the back door, which was one of the things that had to get fixed before we left, it didn’t open. We went and knocked on the door of the house we thought the mechanic lived in and he answered. When questioned about the back door he said he totally forgot and would fix it right now. So we waited around for an hour in the cold while he fixed it and then we were off. We left Olympia around three in the morning and made it to Oakland around five in the evening. The van made it with no problems.

Our Oakland show was sweet last night. The room was cramped and we were a little sloppy but it was still fun times all around. Tonight we play in Oakland again at Casa Sandinista with Neon Piss, Dogjaw, and Agatha.

OUTLOOK Tour Day 1: Portland(and then back to Olympia)

Usually if you plan things out right the beginning of tour isn’t very stressful. Unfortunately we messed something up because we still haven’t quite left. We dropped off our van earlier in the week to get one last tune up before hitting the road and it’s still “up in the air” according to the mechanic, Mark. So last night we had to take a truck down to Portland and ended up getting there late. We played a quick set and then jammed out to Portland’s Defect Defect. We had to break out early because we were thinking we would pick up the van late last night and drive all night to Redding, but that didn’t happen. We were bummed we couldn’t spend more time in Portland and not be able to enjoy the show more because we were all stressed about the van situation. But we definitely appreciate all the people who came out and Colin for putting it together.

So right now we’re still in Olympia, awaiting for the van to be finished and apparently the roads might be icy in Oregon tonight. We’re going to miss our Redding show but the rest of the tour should be awesome. Check out some videos from our record release show in Olympia last weekend:
